English invade V&A Waterfront

Cape Town - English soccer fans have taken over Cape Town's Waterfront ahead of their team's clash with Algeria on Friday, according to Western Cape police Commissioner Mzwandile Petros.

The match will be played in the Cape Town Stadium, starting at 20:30.

"The English have taken over the Waterfront. They informed us in advance that more English will be at the Waterfront than anywhere else.

"If there are (many) at the stadium, there will be more at the Waterfront," he said.

He said hundreds of Algerian fans arrived in the province on Wednesday and were based in Stellenbosch.

"We have close to 2 000 of the Algerians that are there. The security is in place," he said.

There would also be security for the Algerians when they travelled to the stadium on Friday.
