Cape Town - The Cape Town Stadium was evacuated on Friday after a bomb scare.

Police spokesperson Andre Traut told News24 that the threat was made on Friday morning.

"The stadium was evacuated and a search was executed," Traut said.

Online football magazine Kickoff.com reported that sniffer dogs were searching the multi-million rand stadium.

At about 13:15 it was declared safe.

Traut said that police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the threat but that no arrests have been made.
