2 000 journos for opener

Johannesburg – There will be over 2 000 journalists and more than 400 photographers covering the opening World Cup group A match between Bafana Bafana and Mexico at Soccer City on Friday. Kick-off is at 16:00.

All media ticket allocations had been taken by journalists from major local and overseas news agencies and newspapers worldwide, said FIFA media officer Siya Sangweni.

The match has been sold out with 94 700 tickets snapped up for the first-ever World Cup match on African soil.

"The interest from the media has been amazing," he said.
