Even though I didn’t expect much from FIFA after all the talk of endless queues to nowhere, I was pleasantly surprised when collecting my tickets over the weekend. The Cape Town centre was kind enough to open the doors ten minutes early since there were already about a dozen people outside. And the efficiency of getting tickets printed and smiling fans out the door was remarkable. Ten minutes at the most!
The biggest surprise was being told that new tickets for
the Cape Town games had been made available that very day. It was all kept
tightly secret (even the staff didn’t know) in case the word spread and more
fiascos ensued. And so some hungry fans went to the Sales area next door and made
purchases that were just as fast.
My advice to those who still want to get in
on the action is to go to the centre every day. FIFA may surprise you and not
at all how you’d expect.
