Fanteni waits on Bafana recall

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates striker Thembinkosi "Terror" Fanteni tells Football365.co.za he envisions himself making Bafana Bafana's Soccer World Cup squad.

The 26-year-old has been in the international wilderness since his return to South African shores, but insists he can still break into coach Carlos Alberto Parreira's team.

"The coach has said that the door is still open and I think I still have a chance. I can still make it to the final squad," he told this website.

"I know I have struggled since joining Pirates and I'm asking myself why I have struggled, because I was doing well at Maccabi Haifa and I was in the national team but I came back to join Pirates and I have struggled.

"I can't blame the injuries because this is what happens in soccer. I will really love to be in the Bafana team right now, but look I have played one game and the next I'm out injured.

"But after coming on against Kaizer Chiefs I did well and everyone commenting about that game has been telling me that I did well and it gives me confidence for the Nedbank Cup game against Celtic on Wednesday.

"If I stay injury free I think I'm going to get back to the national team... I still have a chance," he concluded.

Fanteni started just four league for Bucs the entire season, scoring a single goal.
