Fans have their say on Robben dive

Cape Town - When Arjen Robben won the penalty that ultimately sent the Netherlands into the last 8, fans were divided on the fairness of the call.

The Netherlands staged an incredible comeback where they scored two goals in six minutes to send Mexico packing but at the centre of it all was another dubious penalty decision.

As it happened: Netherlands v Mexico

Robben, known for his theatrics in and outside the box, appeared to be caught by Mexican defender Rafa Marquez.

The referee pointed to the spot, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar stepped up and the rest, as they say, is history.

Sport24 asked the question: Did Robben dive?

Here is what our Twitter followers had to say:

It seems that most of our Twitter followers agree that there was contact made on Robben but he went down too easily and with too much vigour in the attempt to "win" a penalty.

On the other hand, our Facebook fans appear convinced that Robben dived in the box.

Here are the thoughts of some of our followers:

Calvin Govender: Mexico was Robben'd!!!

Sboniso Sheriff: Dat was a diving!!! He even admit dat for sure

Shinaaz Smith: HE TOOK A DIP, he deserves an OSCAR!!!
