Concert organisers said on Thursday that Bocelli will take centre stage at the "Celebrate Africa, the Grand Finale" event in Johannesburg on July 9, two days before the World Cup final.

Bocelli will be joined on stage by Adams and South African soprano Pretty Yende.

FIFA has previously announced that Alicia Keys and Shakira will headline a concert on July 10 to mark the start of football's biggest tournament.

FIFA's original line-up for the concert was criticised by South Africa's government, which said it didn't have enough local performers.
