Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana forward Bernard Parker believes the national team needs Benni McCarthy at the Soccer World Cup on home soil.
McCarthy is South Africa's premier striker and is the country's record goal-scorer.
Parker is adamant that the West Ham United striker must feature at the World Cup but wants to see a someone emerge to replace the ageing hitman who is nearing the end of an illustrious career.
When asked whether Benni should get the nod, the FC Twente star told Soccer Week: "I would say yes, definitely.
"He's proven to be our best striker over the years and we need his experience.
"But you know his career is almost at an end and all South African strikers must start thinking, 'that you know what, I must be the next goal poacher of the national team', and we must all get used to the pressure."
