Veterans to honour Madigage

Johannesburg - The Bafana Bafana Class of 1996 will play against their German counterparts on Saturday, November 10, in a special game to honour the late Thomas Madigage, who passed away last month in a fatal car accident.

The game will be played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, at 17:00, as a curtain raiser to the Absa Premiership fixture between SuperSport United and Kaizer Chiefs. The game is expected to become an annual event, in an initiative by the German Football Federation (DFB) and the South African Football Association (SAFA).

A large contingent of South Africa’s 1996 African Cup of Nations winning squad have committed to the game, with coach Clive Barker taking charge of the bench. Barker will be assisted by Nelson ‘Teenage’ Dladla, while the technical staff will include Glyn Binkin (Team Manager), Dr. Victor Ramathesele (Team Doctor) and Yusef Kodisang (Kit Manager).

The legends will be sporting their national team jerseys, with the each half being 35 minutes. Tickets for the game are on sale at R40 and are available at Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers outlets across the country.
