United tour squad confirmed

Johannesburg - Manchester United will travel to South Africa with a mix of youth and experience as they prepare for games against AmaZulu and Ajax Cape Town.

The Red Devils will arrive in Durban on Monday ahead of their opening tour clash against Usuthu on Wednesday, after which they will travel to the Mother City to face the Urban Warriors.

The side will be led by the experienced Rio Ferdinand, who was handed the captaincy for the tour, while fellow veterans Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick will also be in attendance.

The likes of youngsters Davide Petrucci, Jesse Lingard and Ryan Tunnicliffe will give an indication of the club's prospects for the future, while fan favourites Antonio Valencia and Javier Hernandez also travel with the squad, as do new signings Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell.

United will take on AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday before squaring up against Ajax at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
