Toffees to sabotage Reds glory

Cape Town - According to Everton website NSNO.co.uk, former Everton striker Andy Gray reckons Everton fans would rather see their side lose on Saturday against Manchester City if it means Liverpool fail to win the Premier League this season.

Everton could be out of the running for a Champions League spot after Arsenal's win over Newcastle last night, and Gray said on TalkSport radio that he thinks Evertonians would be happy to lose it if it meant Liverpool didn’t win the league.

“Peter Reid and I were talking about it last night and we think maybe Evertonians for once in their life may not be too upset if they get beat this week,” said Gray.

“The players will try and do their job the best they can but I’ve got a funny feeling many thousand Evertonians, for one week only, will not mind if they lose the game".

“If they (Manchester City) win at Goodison, they will win the title. I don’t think they will drop a point in their two remaining games against West Ham and Villa. I think the title rests purely on what happens at Goodison.”

If you look at the remaining games, it's fair to say Manchester City have one banana skin left. Everton look by far the most likely to stop Manuel Pellegrini’s side, this coming Saturday in the late kick off.

While Toffee fans will be caught in a catch-22 situation come the weekends game, Liverpool will be hoping they can put their rivalry with the Reds aside and pull one over City.
