Johannesburg - Jimmy Tau has downplayed suggestions Kaizer Chiefs will use revenge as a motivating factor in Saturday's Telkom Knockout final against Orlando Pirates.
The Buccaneers eliminated Amakhosi en route to MTN8 glory in October, yet Tau insists his team have gotten over that disappointment.
"Revenge is not in our minds. Chiefs live on winning cups and being successful," said the Glamour Boys captain.
Tau added that Chiefs' recent 3-1 win over Pirates in the league also has no bearing on this weekend's showdown at FNB Stadium.
"That game is not even in the backs of our minds any more," he said.
"This is a new game and we are defending our title and aim to do just that."
Amakhosi, who edged Ajax Cape Town 2-1 in last season's final, enter the game on the back of a loss, having been humbled 3-2 by Premiership rookies Vasco da Gama last Saturday.
Tau, however, says the shock defeat has emboldened the squad's spirit.
"That chapter is closed, but losing to Vasco has made us more determined. It was a wake up call for us," he said.
The former Bafana player further backs his team-mates to handle the pressure on match day.
"There is always pressure when you play for Chiefs and we as players have learnt to handle it. We will not crack under the pressure and we are in the best physical and mental condition possible," he concluded.
