Spain end year top of rankings

Paris - Soccer World Cup winners Spain will finish the year as FIFA's world number one, following up their triumph in South Africa with a perfect start to their Euro 2012 qualification campaign.

The team they beat in the final in Soccer City in Johannesburg, the Netherlands, are in second place with resurgent Germany in third.

South American rivals Brazil and Argentina are fourth and fifth respectively, with England in sixth.

Bafana Bafana slipped one spot to 51st.
