Cape Town - Orlando
Pirates coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic has confirmed that several of
his key players are racing against time to be fully fit for Wednesday's
Nedbank Cup clash with Cape Town City.
Despite an outbreak of flu in the Bucs camp, Micho said his side is still brimming with confidence having registered their biggest win of the season in their last match against Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs.
"We have had a medical situation, I don't know about other teams but we have had an outbreak of flu that has seen some of the players sit out of training sessions," the Serbian revealed.
"But I'm happy and proud that we are working with players in the shape of black panthers."
Veteran defender Happy Jele is among the players fighting to overcome illness, while Luvuyo Memela, who scored a brace against Chiefs, has also been on the treatment table nursing a minor injury.
"Yes, Memela got a knock and it's just precautionary, but we are fully focused on the task awaiting us on Wednesday," Micho added.
Kick-off is at 19:30.
