Cape Town - Lebohang Maboe says winning Nedbank Cup will make it a special year for Maritzburg United ahead of the Saturday’s final with Free State Stars.
Maboe, who was among the goals in the semi-final 3-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns in April, admitted that it will take a special performance from the Team of Choice to get past a stubborn Ea Lla Koto’s side.
The forward said it is going to be very special for him playing in his first ever cup final when they go head-to-head with Stars at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night.
The 23-year old forward feels his side has worked hard to get to the final and deserves to be crowned this year’s Nedbank Cup champions.
Maboe told the SABC: "It’s a very big game for us knowing that it’s our first time playing in a cup final.
"I feel we just have to work ourselves very hard to win this game. We have worked hard in this past season to get here and I feel like if we win this game, it’s going to be a cherry on top for us. I think we deserve to win it.
"If we win, it it’s going to be an achievement for us as a team because we put a lot of effort to get here. We have to maintain those standards going into the final."
"We want to finish the job within the 90 minutes and don’t even want to go to extra time, but we also know that Stars are a good team with quality players. We are prepared to give everything to get that cup."
