Former SAFA president banned by FIFA

Cape Town - Former South African Football Federation president Kirsten Nematandani, has received a five-year ban from FIFA for not reporting suspected corruption and failing to co-operate with FIFA investigators.

In a statement released to the media, FIFA confirmed the guilty verdict and the reasons behind it. 

"Mr Nematandani was found guilty of having violated art. 13 (General rules of conduct), art. 15 (Loyalty) and art. 18 (Duty of disclosure, cooperation and reporting) of the FIFA Code of Ethics (FCE) and was sanctioned with a ban from taking part in any football-related activities for five years.

Banna Tchanile, a former coach of Togo as well as Jonathan Musavengana, a Zimbabwean football official, received life bans in the same case which involved friendly matches fixed in the lead up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
