Tanzania in Banyana's sights

Johannesburg - The SA Women's national team, Banyana Banyana, is gearing up for Sunday's international friendly against Tanzania.

"We will be ready for Tanzania come Sunday," said coach Vera Pauw in Polokwane where the team is in training.

The match kicks off at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane at 6pm.

Banyana Banyana returned from Zambia on Monday, after beating She-polopolo 4-0 in an international friendly played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

Sunday's match will complete what has been a successful women's month for Banyana Banyana, who played Namibia and Zambia ahead of the match against Tanzania as part of women's month celebrations.

The matches are seen as important preparation for the African Women's Championships to be held in Namibia from October 11 to 25.

Pauw said the team's preparations for the tournament have gone to plan and it is now all systems go.

Amanda Dlamini is recovering well from the knee injury she suffered in the match against Namibia earlier this month.

Pauw has yet to name the squad to compete at the championships.

"Everyone is working hard in the team. It's not going to be easy for the coach to make the final selection as everyone is putting in a great effort," said Banyana Banyana captain Janine van Wyk.

The African Women's Championships serve as a qualifier for the 2015 Fifa Women's World Cup.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
