Pirates turn to Nedbank Cup

Johannesburg - Following their 1-all draw against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Tuesday night, Orlando Pirates will start preparation for their meeting with Santos in Cape Town on on Friday night.

The Happy People and The People’s team will clash in the last 16 of the Nedbank Cup.

The Buccaneers will have to make their trip to the Mother City count if they are to have any realistic hopes of getting silverware this season, Pirates' official website reports.

Coach Vladimir Vermezovic will take his players through their preparations at Rand Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

He will have a full squad to work with, ahead of the Mother City adventure, with the likes of Patrick Phungwayo returning to full training after being absent for two days due to a bout of flu.

Central defender Siyabonga Sangweni and fullback Happy Jele are also expected to make Wednesday’s training session, while winger Daine Klate will once again work on strengthening his injured knee.

The clash between Bucs and Santos is scheduled for 18:00 at Athlone Stadium.
