Pirates confirm night kick-off

Cape Town - The 2013 CAF Champions League is about to reach its climax with finalists Orlando Pirates confirming that the first leg of the two-legged final will be played in the evening - after initial reports indicated a day-time kick-off.

The Buccaneers will renew their rivalry against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the much anticipated clash at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday, November 2.

Bucs website journalist Edgar Nascimento confirmed the correct kick-off time to Sport24.

“The game will be played in the evening and it will start at 20:30,” said Nascimento.

“If you check on our official website, you will see the kick-off time for the next match on the home page.

“The game will not be played during the day,” he added.

It will be the third meeting between the two African giants in this year’s competition.

Roger de Sa’s men humiliated the seven-time champions 3-0 in their own backyard on August 4. Midfielders Thandani Ntshumayelo, Andile Jali and Sifiso Myeni were on target for the 1995 champions that day.

The two sides played to a goalless draw in their last group game on September 22.

Pirates defeated Esperance of Tunisia in the semi-finals after the teams played to a stalemate on both occasions as they drew 0-0 (in Soweto) and 1-1 (in Tunisia) which was good enough to see the Ghosts progresse to the final on the away goals rule.

Rooi Mahamutsa’s 52nd minute header at the Stade Olympique de Radès two weeks ago was the Happy People’s golden ticket to the final.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian giants had to settle for spot kicks in order to overcome Coton Sport of Cameroon at the El Gouna Stadium after both legs ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
