Marques eyes final berth

Thohoyandou - Black Leopards head coach Zeca Marques has insisted that the National First Division (NFD) outfit is determined to go all the way to the Nedbank Cup final following their shocking win against Kaizer Chiefs last weekend.

The former Moroka Swallows mentor told Sport24 in an exclusive interview that their ambition is not to just do well in the R6 million competition but is to go all the way to the final and possibly be crowned champions for the very first time in their history.

"It’s not a matter of how far we can go as far as this competition is concerned," insisted Marques.

"We have the same ambition as the rest of the teams which are still in contention.

"We have no exceptions and we want to go all the way to the final and possibly win it.

"That is the main objective of competing; always have the ambition to win.

"It won’t be easy though but we are here to fight."

Lidoda Duvha has been drawn against the Cape Town-based side, Vasco Da Gama at home, in the quarter-finals of the Ke Yona tournament.

The date for this clash is yet to be confirmed.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
