Soweto giants miss semi date

Johannesburg - The looming prospect of another Soweto derby sell-out between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs in the Telkom Cup semi-finals was avoided on Wednesday night.

The semi-final draw took place at Orlando Stadium immediately after Pirates became the fourth side to qualify for the semi-finals with an emphatic 4-0 quarter-final victory over a hapless Golden Arrows.

The outcome for Pirates is an away semi-final against long-standing rivals SuperSport United, with Chiefs at home to recent MTN8 Cup winners Platinum Stars.

The semi-finals were both due to take place on the first week-end in November, but because the match between the Buccaneers and SuperSport would clash with CAF's first-leg Champions League Final between Pirates and Al Ahly, it will now take place at a later stage.

"We've just got to keep going," said Pirates' coach Roger de Sa.

"The busy programme of the last couple of months might have been unprecedented for a PSL club, but as long as you keep winning it's okay and you don't feel the strain nearly so much."
