Banyana Banyana raring to go

Johannesburg - Banyana Banyana face Namibia in their second preparation match in Windhoek on Saturday before the African Women's Championships.

The friendly match at the Sam Nujoma Stadium comes after the 4-0 drubbing Banyana handed down to Botswana last month.

Coach Vera Pauw said the team needed such games in order to improve.

"Each match we play takes us one step closer to achieving our goal of building a strong competitive team," said Pauw on Thursday.

Pauw had little knowledge about the opposition, but said the experience of playing Namibia would be good for the team.

"Nambia is a team that is also improving under Jacqui Shipanga. The opportunity to play against them ahead of the Championships will give us an opportunity to know a bit about them, in case we have to play them during the tournament."

Banyana was preparing for the ninth African Women's Championships to be hosted in Namibia from October 11-25.
