According to football411.com website, the Bafana Bafana midfielder joined the Dutch giants from Ajax Cape Town in May last year, penning a two-year deal with the option for a further two years, a clause the club and player have since agreed to.
"After the winter break we will have talks with Serero. We are very pleased with him and I don't think there will be any problems," De Boer said.
The news comes as a big boost to Serero, who had suffered a string of injuries after initially joining the Eredivisie champions.
However, he got off to a flying start this term and netted three goals in four starts, although he only returned from a three-month lay-off with 45 minutes of Football on Monday evening.
Serero is one of the players expected to represent South Africa at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, with Bafana coach Gordon Igesund hailing the player's potential impact for the team.
"We all know what a good player Serero is, he would give us something different," Igesund said.
"Even if he can give us 60 or 70 minutes in a game then it might be worth having him in our squad."
