In their report back, the panel tasked with the interviews of the prospective candidate resolved that:
1. The candidates that were interviewed, while having strength in particular areas, were nevertheless not suitably qualified for the demanding SAFA CEO position.
This pronouncement was unanimously approved by the NEC;
2. The current acting CEO, Pinky Lehoko continues in her role until such time that the organisation appoints the new chief Executive;
3. The Association will enlist the services of a professional recruitment agency to help head hunt the successful candidate and
4. It is not possible to speculate when the process will be completed.
SAFA president Kirsten Nematandani, who headed a team that interviewed the potential candidates, said while the organisation is keen to employ a substantive CEO, it will not be rushed into making a haste decision regarding the appointment.
The president expressed his satisfaction with the work being done by Lehoko.
“We are aware of having the need to have stability in the organisation but we will take our time to ensure that the process guarantees we pick the best suitable candidate,” said Nematandani.
