Cape Town - Orlando Pirates welcomed the news of the return of their veteran defender Siyabonga Sangweni from injury ahead of the crucial MTN8 semi-final first leg encounter against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The 31-year-old Bafana Bafana defender missed the majority of last season due to a knee injury.
Sangweni last featured for the Buccaneers against Chiefs in the PSL encounter in March.
Pirates skipper, Lucky Lekgwathi, told the Soccer-Laduma website that the club is delighted to have Sangweni back although striker, Collins Mbesuma, and holding midfielder, Thandani Ntshumayelo, have been ruled out of tomorrow’s clash.
“We have Thandani Ntshumayelo out injured but we are happy to welcome back our strong defender Siyabonga Sangweni," Lekgwathi said.
The longest serving Bucs player also revealed the fact that midfield maestro, Andile Jali, will have a late fitness test (on Friday) to see if he'll be passed fit for the Soweto derby.
“As for Andile Jali, he is doing light training and we have to see how he does until Friday. Apart from that we have a full squad. We are all ready to go on Saturday," Lekgwathi confirmed.
It remains to be seen if Sangweni will be included in the 18-man match day squad for the much anticipated wafa-wafa encounter.
Kick-off is at 15:00.
