Johannesburg - Jomo Cosmos midfielder El-Hadji Samb is eyeing an immediate return
to the PSL after yet another heart-breaking season for the club that
ended in relegation.
Ezenkosi have now been relegated three times in succession, and
the Senegalese star is determined to help his side end that worrying
trend.
In an interview on the club's official website, Samb revealed he
held talks with boss Jomo Sono about his future and that of the
struggling club.
He said: "For now I think everyone's focus is on making a quick
return to the premiership. Jomo has hinted that I'm going nowhere for
now, and for me it's okay.
"To say I'm sad would be an understatement. In fact I'm shattered to see all that we've worked for going to waste.
"But there are lessons to be learnt from this, and I hope this
helps us in our quest to return to first class football. We can do it
because I have faith in the quality of players that we have."
Samb revealed the club's failure was down to a lack of experience and some bad luck.
He added: "I think it's all down to hard luck and to some extent,
inexperience. We played good football but luck and inconsistent form
was our greatest undoing.
"Being in the NFD should not just be our major worry; we must be
prepared to get back to our rightful place as soon as possible and hang
in there.
"I think it's a worrisome trend to go right back to the NFD each
time we get promoted. I've already told the boss about my feelings. This
is something we need to address as urgently as possible.
"Our fans should continue their vocal support and hope for the best because our return to the PSL is non-negotiable."
