Rwandan soccer player dies

Kigali - Rwanda international soccer player Patrick Mafisango died in a car accident in the Tanzanian capital Dar es-Salaam on Thursday, the Rwandan football federation announced.

Mafisango, who was part of Rwanda's squad for next month's 2014 World Cup qualifier against Algeria, played for Tanzanian champions Simba as a holding midfielder.

The 32-year-old DR Congo-born player died en route to hospital after the car he was driving went off the road after swerving to avoid a motorbike.
