Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Ruud Krol has once again slammed his team's shoddy defending.
Bucs lost the Telkom Knockout final against their bitter rivals Kaizer Chiefs by a massive 3-0 margin, leaving the Dutchman fuming.
"What is a good defender?" Krol quizzed. "He must know when to clear the ball."
In an apparent attack on Robyn Johannes's howler, Krol said: "I think we started the match well and we were equal with Chiefs but after that mistake in 11 minutes when Johannes passed the ball back to the goalkeeper that's when things started falling apart for us.
"We were not good at the back. You must bring everything in the final; you must fight, but we didn't do that."
In essence, Krol rued the schoolboy nature of the error.
"If as a defender you realise you are under pressure you must never play the ball backwards and put the other defenders under pressure as well. Play the ball out so you can organise yourself again but we didn't do it," he said.
Meanwhile, Krol, who is in the last season of his contract, couldn't be drawn into commenting on what the second consecutive Soweto derby loss means for his future with the team.
"That I don't know. You have to ask the people who are involved in that. What I know is everyone is disappointed and we have to recover from that," he said.
