Liverpool - Wayne Rooney and his wife Coleen were all smiles Tuesday as they left hospital with their first baby, Kai Wayne.
The Manchester United and England striker and his childhood sweetheart left Liverpool Women's Hospital in north-west England the day after their son was born.
Kai Wayne was born at 2:20pm (1420 GMT) on Monday. His parents did not comment as they left hospital, but a spokesman for the couple said: "Mother and baby are both absolutely fine. Wayne and Coleen are thrilled with the wonderful addition to their family life."
As they left, they thanked hospital staff as the footballer's father opened the car boot, which was full of flowers and balloons from well-wishers.
Rooney missed training with his club to be at the birth and may also skip United's Champions League clash at home to Russian side CSKA Moscow on Tuesday.
Rooney, 24, married Coleen, 23, on the Italian Riviera last year.
Coleen has worked as a model and a television presenter but said in an interview earlier this year that she would like to have "maybe three or four children."
"I do enjoy my work but I'd be happy when we do have children to just get on with that," she said.
