Precautionary scan for Gerrard

London - England's Steven Gerrard was set to have a "precautionary scan" on a knee injury on Monday ahead of their friendly international away to Sweden on Wednesday, the English Football Association (FA) announced.

However, the FA said the 99-times capped Liverpool midfielder "was expected to be fit to travel to Sweden where he is in line to win his 100th cap for his country".

Gerrard suffered his injury during Liverpool's 1-1 English Premier League draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

If he plays in Stockholm, Gerrard will become only the sixth player to win 100 England caps following Billy Wright, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Peter Shilton and David Beckham.
