Rustenburg - Orlando Pirates beat Bloemfontein Celtic in a tense penalty shoot-out to make it through to the OR Tambo Soccer Challenge Final on Sunday.
The Challenge is currently underway at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, where Platinum Stars will face Mamelodi Sundowns in the other semi-final.
The winner of that match will meet Pirates in the Final on Saunday afternoon.
The match between Bucs and Celtic ended 0-0 after regulation time, and a tense penalty shoot-out followed.
Pirates striker Tokelo Rantie became a hero for the Mighty Buccaneers when he coolly converted the last kick of the sudden death penalties, after Celtic defender Bevan Fransch's shot hit the post.
Pirates scored their penalties through Rooi Mahamutsa, Patrick Malokase, Njabulo Ntusi and Lucky Lekgwathi, while Ndumiso Mabena hit the goalpost with his effort.
Nigeria striker Okechukwu Nwadike, who is currently on trial at Celtic, had his shot saved by Senzo Meyiwa, while Ruzaigh Gamildien, Danny Venter, Letladi Madubanya and Lerato Manzini made sure that their spot-kicks went past the Bucs keeper.
Both teams got the opportunity to parade their fringe players, with Bucs coach Julio Leal opting to start with Sibusiso Mnguni and Cyril Mashego, both youngsters from the club development, who did not disappoint in the middle of the park.
Nigeria striker Ezenwa Otorogu also made his first official appearance for Celtic since signing from Pirates recently.
