Pienaar trains with Ajax CT

Johannesburg - Bafana Bafana captain, Steven Pienaar, will be training with Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday as he looks to maintain his fitness levels while in the Mother City.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who is currently on loan at Everton, has taken a break from the English Premier League and made his way back to Mzansi to spend some time in Cape Town.

Pienaar recently made the move back to Everton, where he showed the best of his Premier League form, and has impressed during his time back at Goodison Park, scoring in only his second game back.

The news of Pienaar’s arrival was confirmed by the Urban Warriors’ public relations officer, Shooz Mekuto. He said, “Yes, Pienaar is training with us on Wednesday and Thursday, he’s not new to the environment so he feels good and comfortable here.”

The 29-year-old midfielder started his career with Ajax Cape Town back in 1999 before leaving to join their sister club, Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam.

The former Borussia Dortmund man will no doubt be able to offer invaluable advice and experience to Maarten Stekelenburg’s ranks during his short time with the club.
