Football followers will mostly remember Parker for the brace he scored against New Zealand in the 2009 Confederations Cup to give Bafana Bafana a 2-0 win that sent them to the semifinals.
"My first days have gone very well. I’m glad to be home and it feels good to be playing for Chiefs. I just can't wait for the season to kick off," Parker said on the Thursday Night Live Show with Robert Marawa.
The Bafana striker joined Chiefs last week and went on to play his first match last Saturday against arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in the inaugural Carling Black Label Cup, where he came in as a second-half substitute. He converted a well-taken spot kick, to cheers and applause from the fans, although Chiefs ended on the losing side.
"Chiefs are one of the biggest clubs. They know me and I know Chiefs. I know the coaches, the fans.
It's up to me to deliver on the field," said Parker.
The former FC Twente striker hopes to feature in the club's clash against Wits and promises to make his mark.
"I've been doing well at training, working hard and I'm keeping up. I'm ready for the weekend's game.
Wits played very well last season, they are confident on the ball. That's how they managed to win most of their games. It will be a tough encounter for us and we are aware how they fared last season," he said.
Chiefs’ strikers have large shoes to fill following the departure of Knowledge Musona to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.
The Zimbabwean finished top of the scoring chart in the last campaign with 20 goals in all competitions.
"We've been preparing well. I'm impressed. We deserve to go out there and do what we do best as Chiefs (to win)," said Parker.
