Zungu thrilled by return to attacking role

Cape Town - Vitoria de Guimaraes midfielder Bongani Zungu is thrilled by the prospect of playing in an attacking position at his new club.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns star was utilized in a more defensive role in midfield by Pitso Mosimane at the Premiership champions.

The 23-year-old is recovering from a serious shin injury which has kept him out of action since January.

"Vitoria de Guimaraes believe I can score goals, so maybe [I'll go there] as a number eight because I can score goals," Zungu told KickOff.

"I'm very smart; I scored eight or seven at Tuks and this season I scored in the Telkom Knockout; I've got that instinct.

"My natural position is a number eight - the free role to go forward. In the national team coach Shakes [Mashaba] plays me there that's why I would score. But they told me that they want to play me as a number eight, so I'm very excited.

"Thankfully, I've had time to recover. I was telling my family, 'imagine if I had to get injured now?' but everything happens for a reason.

"It happened that I got injured when I was doing very well and my momentum was coming, but that's life. For every bad situation that I go through I make sure I come out strong, with a positive mind."
