Cape Town - Former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United star Dove Wome denies he is asking for R250 000 per month to join a new club after leaving United in early January.
Reports emerged in February that the player was asking for the substantial salary to sign on for a Premiership side although Wome insists that he is open to negotiation when it comes to discussing terms with a prospective suitor.
He told Soccer Laduma: "I would like to set the record straight on what has been said about me and the money that I supposedly want from clubs.
"There is a guy (football agent known to the publication but who has remained anonymous) who has been telling people that I demand a lot of money, and that I can't join any team for less salary. What he has been saying is not true.
“He is the same guy who promised to get me a club. I left SuperSport because I was promised that I would be getting a new club. He hasn't done so. I had been warned about him.
"The guy says I want a monthly salary of R250 000. That is not true. What he is doing will tarnish my image because clubs won’t want to call me to join them.
"Contracts are discussed among all the parties involved. I can't say I want this much to a club and expect that to be the end of discussion. There are discussions involved in these kind of things."
