Wits climb to PSL summit

Cape Town - Bidvest Wits beat Chippa United 1-0 in an Absa Premiership game played at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday night.

The Clever Boys climb to the top of the league table following their victory, while the Chilli Boys stay 8th in the standings.

The home side had a chance to take the lead in the 26th minute from a corner-kick, but Elias Pelembe's effort was cleared away by Bongani Kama.

Nevertheless, the two sides were unable to break the deadlock in the first-half.

It took only nine minutes in the second-half for Frank Mhango to put Wits into the lead with a beautiful header which beat Chippa goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi.

Chippa head coach Dan Malesela responded by making a double substitution - introducing David Zulu and Paseka Mako in the 68th minute.

Wits goalkeeper Darren Keet punched away Katlego Mashego's curling effort in the 88th minute to ensure that the home side walked away 1-0 winners.
