Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler revealed that his half-time tongue lashing sparked their comeback in the 3-3 draw against Maritzburg United.
The Buccaneers fought back from three goals down to earn a point after a clinical first-half performance from the Team of Choice.
Mondli Cele, Evans Rusike and Brian Onyango grabbed the goals for Maritzburg while Thabo Rakhale pulled a goal back for Pirates moments before the interval.
Pirates completed the comeback with goals from Thabo Matlaba and Kermit Erasmus in the second-half at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday night.
"At half-time I had to fix a few things; I had a bit of a go at them but not too harsh, but a bit of a go that they need to follow instruction," Tinkler told KickOff.
"Obviously being 3-0 down, I'm satisfied with the character we showed to come back. But I was not satisfied with the way we started the game because we had planned this game.
"We needed to play with more width which is what we didn't do in the first half. We also made a few changes that obviously helped us and we got ourselves back into the game to make it 3-3."
