We need a win to boost confidence - Twala

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs winger William Twala strongly believes just a single victory is what they need to reclaim their confidence following a disappointing start to the season.

Amakhosi lost 2-1 to Bidvest Wits in their opening Absa Premiership fixture, which was followed by a shock 1-0 defeat to newly-formed Cape Town City in the quarter-finals of the MTN 8 Cup.

Still smarting from the season's stuttering start, Amakhosi resume their Absa Premiership's campaign by hosting Platinum Stars at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night, 19:30.

"We have put the setback behind us and have now put our focus on our next League match against Platinum Stars," Twala told Vodacom Soccer.

"Though we understand it's going to be a tough game against equally competitive Stars who are never the pushovers. But this is one of the crucial matches for us, the one we aim to go for broke for and come out with a positive result to reclaim our confidence."

The 24-year-old winger, who has been one of the better performing players in Amakhosi side this season, is expected to make a notable impact against Dikwena on Wednesday.

"We have learnt from our shortcomings, and we are going to Wednesday's game better prepared as we really can't afford to sustain a third defeat in a row," Twala added.

"What we need in one of our next League games is nothing but a win. A win that will certainly boost our confidence and restore our supporters' faith in us [players] that we are still the Amakhosi side capable of challenging for any silverware in the PSL.

"Despite the poor start in our two opening season's games, but I strongly believe we are ready to turn the corner. It's still just a matter of time that our new-look team blends, and results will come, I'm much optimistic on that," enthused Twala, who joined Amakhosi in the middle of last term from Chippa United.
