Walters sets sights on MTN8 triumph

Cape Town - Shu-Aib Walters has stressed that he would like to lift the MTN8 Cup after Cape Town City FC defeated Kaizer Chiefs in the quarter-final stage of the tournament.

The 34-year-old was in inspirational form against Amakhosi winning the man-of-the-match award and the former Maritzburg United says he would love to lift some silverware having never won anything in his professional career.

"That will be massive achievement for me and something that I have obviously wanted," he told KickOff.com.

"It is the main reason why I moved to Mpumalanga Black Aces at the beginning of last season. Obviously now we are one step closer and the guys can take a little bit of success and I'm sure they want it to continue," he said.

The Cape Town born man also cited the influence of goalkeeper coach Calvin Marlin and head coach Eric Tinkler.

"I think at the start of last season it was about having good goalkeepers around you and now you have a good goalkeeper coach (in Calvin Marlin).

"And the coach is pushing me all the time and I think that has played a big part. Obviously this season it is the new team and you start becoming one of the older and more experienced players, so you need to lead by example... I think that has also been motivation to me," he concluded.
