Vilakazi: 'Downs ready for tough schedule

Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi says the club are ready for their hectic schedule in the second half of the season.

The champions of Africa have a long list of seven Premiership and Cup fixtures lined up, which includes the CAF Super Cup encounter with TP Mazembe.

The pile-up was due to their participation in the continental tournament and the Club World Cup in Japan after the surprise Champions League win.

Despite not playing a part in their historic run to the final after being cup-tied with his former club Bidvest Wits, the Bafana midfielder says he always felt part of the overall squad.

"It's a busy period but we've a good squad with quality players. Players which are very prepared for this hectic schedule," Vilakazi told Goal.com website.

"This is a very interesting part for us and we've worked very hard and are ready for the schedule ahead.

"Ever since I signed I felt part of the team. It was important for me to support from the outside. If I had to encourage another player while I was outside it's support as well.

"So for me giving support was the most important thing and it made me feel good that at least I'm giving something to the team."

The Brazilians return to action on Wednesday against Bloemfontein Celtic as Premiership resumes.

Kick off is at 19:30.
