Cape Town - Maritzburg United chairman Farouk Kadodia has placed goalkeeper Glenn Verbauwhede on leave until the end of the season.

The Belgian came under heavy criticism earlier in the year for his peculiar theatrics on the field of play.

Known to be somewhat of a hothead, the mercurial 30-year-old made 10 appearances since joining the club in January.

"Basically the club has put him on leave until the end of his contract," Kadodia told KickOff.

"There are no issues and we just placed him on leave until the end of his contract."
