Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town scored twice in two-minutes to beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 in an Absa Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Urban Warriors were the better team throughout and finally made their chances count, with Thabo Mosadi and Ndiviwe Mdabuka finding the back of the net in quick succession in the second-half.

Mark Mayambela had several chances to open the scoring in the first half-hour, with the wing-wizard first forcing Denis Onyango into a good save, before seeing his volley effort over the crossbar with the goal at his mercy in the 28th minute.

Hlompho Kekana was unlucky not to find the back of the net seven minutes later. The FIFA Puskás Award nominee stripped his opposite number, Travis Graham, of the ball before launching a shot at goal - his attempt cannoning off the crossbar.

Bantu Mzwakali then saw his free-kick attempt wide before Kekana also tested Jody February from a set-piece before the break.

Kekana aimed to rekindle his goal-scoring form from range with an attempt form well within his half - the midfielder seeing his shot fly wide of goal.

Having absorbed a spell of pressure from reigning champions, Ajax hit the front with Mosadi left with a easy finish following a pin-point ball into the area by Mzwakali in teh 71st minute.

The Urban Warriors made it 2-0 two minutes later. Almost a carbon copy to the first; Mayambela the supplier this time - Mdabuka with the finish.

Sundowns aimed to fight their way back into the game with 'CBD' reunited on the pitch, but the hosts held firm to secure all three points.
