Urban Warriors announce Mayambela deal

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town have confirmed the signing of experienced midfielder Mark Mayambela following a successful trial spell at the Premiership club.

The 28-year-old was released by SuperSport United at the end of the 2015/16 Premiership season, having joined the club from Chippa United in the January transfer window.

He subsequently linked up with the Urban Warriors in pre-season, and did enough to convince Ajax boss Roger De Sa to offer him a contract.

A statement on the club's official website read: "Mark Mayambela returns home to Cape Town, joining the club he was destined to play for!

"Ajax Cape Town would love to see the amazing supporters from Khayelitsha at Cape Town Stadium, showing some love for one of their very own.

"The 28-year-old playmaker has been very impressive in training with the Urban Warriors in recent weeks and has also impressed Roger De Sa and his technical team in a number of training matches, showing his vast experience and sharing some inimitable moments with some of the younger players in the squad.

"With a long list of admirers, Mark Mayambela chose the Red-and-White of Ajax Cape Town, the club is certain that he will be a huge success and adored by the club's supporters, as well as gaining some new supporters with the acquisition of this fantastic player."
