Twitter reacts to Pirates' worst defeat

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates suffered a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of SuperSport United in an Absa Premiership clash - a defeat that equals the club's worst ever result.

As it happened: SuperSport 6-1 Orlando Pirates

In 1990, the Buccaneers went down by the same margin against Mamelodi Sundowns in the BP Top 8.

The defeat left coach Muhsin Ertugral boiling in the technical area and even said on live television in his post-math interview that he will hand in his resignation

A second-half onslaught by United saw the Pretoria side thrash Pirates at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night.

The first-half provided some scintillating action, with both teams coming close to scoring on numerous occasions before the deadlock was broken by Tendai Ndoro just before the break.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane restored parity shortly after the restart and SuperSport were simply unstoppable in the second-half as they scored five further goals through Michael Boxall, Thuso Phala, Bradley Grobler and Jeremy Brockie to seal a comprehensive victory.
