Top eight is definitely within our reach, says Pietersen

Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town will be eyeing a third straight Premiership win when Bloemfontein Celtic visit Athlone Stadium on Saturday night.

The Urban Warriors are slowly starting to turn things around after being nestled in the bottom five for most of the season.

Stanley Menzo’s men are suddenly up to eighth and with destiny now in their own hands in terms of a top-half-of-the-table finish.

Ajax have 32 points from 27 matches; four fewer than Maritzburg United above them and level with Orlando Pirates below them, although they do have a game in hand.

"Top eight is definitely within our reach, as a team we never took our mind off that,” said defender Roscoe Pietersen.

"There was a time where people were talking about relegation, but in and around the dressing room we were focused on finishing in the top eight so we were positive without even knowing it."

Opponents Celtic are also inching their way out of relegation trouble, although they have been helped by results around them and a few handy draws in recent weeks.

Siwelele will be searching for a fifth match unbeaten - having drawn the previous four, including two against direct relegation rivals Highlands Park and Baroka FC.

They are up to 12th on 27 points, but still need points in order to avoid the drop.

Tashreeq Morris and Rheece Evans remain sidelined due to injury for Ajax, while Celtic have Vusi Shikweni and Khethokwakhe Masuku on the casualty list.
