Tinkler: We deserved the win

Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler believes his side deserved the 2-1 victory over Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday night.

The Buccaneers secured the victory through an own goal and a strike from Sifiso Myeni at the Orlando Stadium.

Ajax conceded an own goal after goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola failed to control a back pass from Rivaldo Coetzee.

Despite the fortunate opening goal, Tinkler insist that his team's superb first half went a long way to ensuring the points.

"Although they did score the own goal, I thought we created many chances, and at half-time we should have been at least two or three up," Tinkler told KickOff.

"Only in the last five minutes of the first half we seemed to drop off; we seemed to give them more space, and then that trend continued into the second half.

"They had way too much time to select the passes that they wanted to make, and then obviously we started to struggle.

"They get that goal and start chasing, and now we start panicking and we no longer play our game anymore, which is the sad part."
