Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Eric Tinkler believes his team will need a stroke of luck to secure a top-three finish in the Premiership this season.
The Buccaneers have found some form recently, winning eight of their last 10 games in all competitions.
Tinkler's side hammered Golden Arrows 4-1 in the league at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday to occupy sixth spot in the standisngs.
"We want to finish as high as possible, but finishing in the top three is not in our hands. It is in the hands of others," Tinkler told KickOff.
"But it was important to collect the three points [against Arrows] because obviously that closes the gap on Black Aces and Kaizer Chiefs, and that now puts a little pressure on them as well.
"We have to keep them on their toes. They are also going to look at what is happening behind them and this win was important."
Tinkler has maintained that he always had faith that Pirates would turn the corner after struggling earlier in the campaign.
Mamelodi Sundowns welcome the Buccaneers to the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday in a Nedbank Cup quarter-final clash.
Kick-off is at 20:15.
