Tinkler pleased with SuperSport tactical discipline

Cape Town - SuperSport United head coach Eric Tinkler admits his side executed their game-plan to perfection to progress to the MTN8 final on Saturday.

Matsatsansa beat a plucky Maritzburg United side 2-0 at the Harry Gwala Stadium thanks to a brace from star striker Jeremy Brockie - who returned to the starting XI after handing in a transfer request last month.

The Kiwi's two goals handed the Tswhane giants a 3-1 aggregate victory and they will now face either Bidvest Wits or Cape Town City in the final.

At the full-time whistle, Tinkler reveled in the tactical discipline of his chargers and insisted any thoughts over the final opposition is premature.

"It was also a lot of work," Tinlkler said. "We knew we had to match them for effort today and I think we've done that. The boys put in a hard shift.

"First half we said we needed to be creative, get behind them. We did that and got the two goals. What was key is that I told the players at half-time not to give anything away and go away with a clean-sheet and we've done that."

"To be honest with you my focus turns to Platinum Stars," he added when asked about the final.

Meanwhile Brockie is just seven goals away from becoming the club's all-time record goalscorer.

Following his brace against Maritzburg United on Saturday evening, the New Zealand international took his tally for Matsatsantsa to 51 strikes.

It's an exceptional feat to be six goals away from the late Abraham Raselemane's 11-year record, given that Brockie only arrived at the Tshwane club in 2015.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
