Tinkler offers Benni advice

Cape Town - SuperSport United head coach Eric Tinkler has offered Cape Town City head coach Benni McCarthy advice.

McCarthy won his first competitive match in charge over the weekend against Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-final.

Tinkler, who departed the Citizens during the off-season, believes that there are no guarantees and hopes that the former Bafana Bafana striker keeps working hard in his rookie season as a coach.

"Obviously, congratulations to Benni and he had a lot of butterflies and nerves ahead of the game,” Tinkler tells KickOff website.

"He’s got that win under his belt and I think he'll feel more positive now going forward.

"But he must keep working hard and you know, there's no guarantees in life.

"He must just keep working hard, and have lots of belief and faith in what you do.

"You actually get measured more when you win a game than losing."

Meanwhile, Tinkler guided SuperSport to a victory against Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 quarter-final and will now shift there focus to the Premiership.

Matsatsantsa are home to cross-town rivals Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.

Kick off is at 15:00.
