Tinkler looking to recruit 10 more players

Cape Town - Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler says he wants to sign 10 more players in an attempt to bolster his squad ahead of their debut season in the Premiership.

The former Orlando Pirates mentor stated that whilst the club has retained the core of the Mpumalanga Black Aces team, they desperately need to sort their central defence.

"We've kept a core of the Aces team. We have Shu-Aib Walters. Centre of defence has been an issue," Tinkler told KickOff.

"Up front we have Sibusiso Masina, Judas Moseamedi, Aubrey Ngoma, Bhongolethu Jayiya  these are all guys that were playing in the past season.

"We managed to secure those guys now it's about building on that. We have 14 players right now and we are looking at [signing] another 10."

Having had to deal with a squad of over 35 players during his time with Pirates, Tinkler revealed that he doesn't believe in having a big squad.

"I try to keep it as small as possible but you need at least two of the same quality in each position," he added.

Lennox Bacela has been invited for an assessment by Tinkler in a bid to bolster the team's attacking options.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
